Cellar for up to 5 years. Serve chilled. A boutique family-run winery set in the charming eastern hills of Friuli, Tunella is well-known in Italy and beyond for their delicious white wines which capture the beauty and uniqueness of the local terroir. The property was initially founded by farmer Min Zorzettig in the 1960s, but in recent decades it has been completely modernised by his children and grandchildren who now run the winery. In total they have 70 hectares of vines planted on suntrap terraces which enjoy regular cooling breezes from the nearby Adriatic Sea. The soils here are a special blend of marl and sandstone which are known locally as “ponca” and help to lock in plenty of freshness and elegance in the finished wines. The grapes for this bottling are carefully harvested at optimum maturity and then fermented using indigenous yeasts in 30 litre Slavonian oak casks. After a period of ageing on the lees over the winter the young wine is then bottled and released. Aromatic notes of sage, ripe peaches, zesty citrus and toasty hints from the oak dominate on the nose, while the palate offers richer tropical and stone fruit flavours with a well-rounded texture and mouthwatering freshness. The great balance between fruit and acidity makes this a great aperitif or partner for seafood served with a refreshing salsa, grilled fish, or spicy Asian dishes.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
