Cellar for up to 4 years. Serve chilled. This third-generation family winery is set in the eastern hills of Friuli and specialises in making vibrant white wines and elegant, earthy reds. The estate was founded in the 1960s by Min Zorzettig, but it wasn’t until the 1990s that his grandchildren decided to totally renovate the winery and replant the vineyards to focus on quality production rather than quantity. Yields have been reduced, their 70 hectares of vines are worked by hand, and they use indigenous yeasts for fermentation. This vibrant Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from their terraced vineyards which act as a sun trap in the summer months, helping to fully ripen the fruit. The soils here are a unique blend of marl and sandstone which is known locally as “ponca” and gives the wines a notable freshness and elegance. Once in the winery the grapes are pressed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The young wine is left to age on the lees over the winter before bottling. Classic Sauvignon Blanc notes of green apple, freshly-cut grass, stone fruit and citrus define the nose, while the palate offers a crisp freshness, light body, and clean and elegant finish. A great aperitif for a sunny evening or partner for grilled fish, seafood, roast chicken, or leafy salads.
