Source-supplied bottle description

Beautifully constructed and complex, this Chianti Riserva from Uggiano offers depth, substance, and elegance. Made from the estate’s oldest vines, it combines rich Sangiovese fruit with layered spice and herbal notes. A fantastic example of Tuscan craftsmanship at an excellent price point.

Meet the Producer

Winemaker Giuseppe Losapio founded Azienda Uggiano in the early 1970s and has steadily developed the estate at San Vincenzo, producing wines that showcase the character of Chianti with precision and authenticity.

Production

Grapes are sourced from the oldest vines on Uggiano's Colli Fiorentini and Classico properties. After crushing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel with selected yeasts, with the must pumped over twice daily. After 10–15 days, the wine is racked to French oak barriques (Allier, Nevers, and Vosges) for approximately 12 months, followed by 6–8 months in large oak casks (30–60 hl). The wine then undergoes at least 12 months of refinement in bottle before release.

Tasting Notes

The nose reveals warm, rich aromas of black cherry, dried fruits, spice, and subtle balsamic hints. The palate is richly flavoured, generous, and well-structured, with spicy, meaty notes balancing plum and fresh cherry fruit, alongside lightly herbal undertones. A concentrated and complex Chianti with integrated tannins and elegant depth. Food Match Pairs wonderfully with Pici pasta and ragù, or pappardelle with porcini mushrooms. Grape Varieties Sangiovese 90%, Canaiolo 10%

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
