A bright and characterful Chianti Riserva from the Uggiano estate south of Florence, this vintage is fruit-forward yet sophisticated. Mainly Sangiovese with a touch of Canaiolo, the wine is matured for six months in large oak casks, giving it depth, rounded tannins, and a spicy, peppery finish—excellent value with a true sense of Tuscan authenticity.
Meet the Producer
Winemaker Giuseppe Losapio founded Azienda Uggiano in the early 1970s and has steadily developed the estate at San Vincenzo, producing Chianti wines that balance traditional Tuscan character with modern precision and care.
Production
The mainly Sangiovese grapes (plus 10% Canaiolo) are harvested from hillside vineyards and transported to the winery for vinification. The must undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, with twice-daily pumpovers to extract colour and tannin from the skins. After roughly two weeks, the wine is racked into large oak casks (30–60 hl) for six months’ maturation.
Tasting Notes
Ripe red berry aromas are lifted with a touch of spice. The palate displays layers of fresh plum, blackcurrant, and juicy red cherry, balanced by developed, spicy flavours. A well-structured, complex Riserva with rounded tannins and a generous, peppery finish. Food Match Pairs beautifully with rich casseroles, roasted meats, and traditional Tuscan fare. Grape Varieties Sangiovese 90%, Canaiolo 10%
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
