Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Upsidedown is a Washington state winery established by Seth and Aubrey Kitzke in 2015. In about a decade, the winery has quickly gained popularity for its excellent, value-for-money wines, primarily from Rhone Valley varietals. Gold Drop GSM is a Rhone-style blend dominated by Mourvedre with additions of Grenache and Syrah. The grapes come from the Dead Poplar estate vineyard located on the southern slope of the valley. Here, the vines are rooted in very fine, sandy soils created by the former course of the ancient Yakima River, which has left deposits of gravel, sand, and silt. This type of soil favors the production of very elegant and fragrant wines. In the glass, the wine reveals a pale ruby color verging on garnet. Its aromatic profile is delicate, releasing floral notes of rose petals and hints of fresh red fruits such as strawberry and raspberry, followed by earthy and spicy touches. On the palate, it has a medium-full body, soft tannins, and a balanced acidity. It is harmonious and elegant with a long, delicately spicy finish. It can be cellared for several years or enjoyed now with a French Cassoulet or roast pork belly.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
