Wildeberg is a boutique estate in the Franschhoek Valley where only 10 hectares are dedicated to vines, with the rest of the land left entirely in its natural, wild state. All fruit is sourced solely from Franschhoek, hand-harvested, naturally fermented, and matured in the farm's mountain barrel hall. It is a place, and a wine, defined by restraint and a deep respect for the land.
Why You'll Love It
This is Franschhoek red winemaking at its most thoughtful and expressive. Carbonic maceration, natural fermentation, a single daily manual punchdown, and 12 months in large-format 600-litre French oak barrels produce a wine that is fresh, vibrant, and alive with character rather than shaped by heavy extraction or new oak. The Syrah brings warmth, spice, and aromatic lift while the Cabernet Franc adds structure and a subtle herbal edge. The result is a wine that feels genuinely wild and free, in the best possible sense.
Vineyard & Production
The 2022 vintage is a blend of approximately 90% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Franc, with each parcel hand-picked from Franschhoek Valley vineyards. Whole clusters underwent carbonic maceration without pressing, with fermentation progressing naturally and just a single daily manual punchdown to gently encourage extraction. The wine was then aged for 12 months in 600-litre French oak barrels, allowing it to develop complexity and texture while preserving its natural freshness and aromatic purity.
Tasting Notes

The palate is broad and naturally juicy, combining cranberry and red berry fruit with subtle layers of peppercorn spice. Fresh, vibrant, and expressive, with a lightness of touch that makes it genuinely moreish. Best enjoyed at a cool room temperature.
Perfect Pairings
A wonderfully versatile food wine, perfect with charcuterie and cured meats, grilled or pan-seared steak, traditional South African bo
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
