Source-supplied bottle description

A classic expression of ancient vine Semillon from Franschhoek Valley, crafted with finesse and remarkable purity. Restrained, textural, and beautifully balanced, this white showcases the oldest Semillon plantings in the Cape.

Meet the Producer

Perched on the dramatic slopes above Franschhoek, Wildeberg is a tiny, hands-on estate. The vineyard fruit comes exclusively from the Franschhoek Valley, including vines planted as far back as 1905, making this one of South Africa’s most historic Semillon sites.

Production

Sourced from dry-grown, ancient bush vines. Grapes are hand-harvested, naturally fermented in a combination of new and older oak barrels, and gently matured in the mountain barrel hall. Minimal intervention ensures the wine’s elegance comes solely from the quality of the fruit.

Tasting Notes

Delicate, restrained aromas of bright citrus fruit are complemented by savoury, waxy notes. The palate is taut and highly textural, with stony citrus flavours and a layered, balanced mouthfeel that develops beautifully over time. Food match Pairs wonderfully with delicate fish dishes, fresh oysters, and prawns. Grape Semillon 100%

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
