Carmes de Rieussec from AOP Sauternes is a sumptuous sweet wine produced by Maison Ginestet, whose vineyards border the legendary Château d'Yquem. Owned by Domaines Baron de Rothschild, this wine offers a refined and fresh expression of Sauternes. Production The harvest took place from 26 September to 31 October across four successive rounds of picking to ensure optimal botrytis development. Half of the wine was vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with the remaining 50% in re-used barrels. The wine then aged for 16 months in re-used barrels from the Tonnellerie des Domaines, enhancing its texture and complexity. Tasting notes The nose initially shows Sauvignon-driven aromas before giving way to fresh, exotic notes. On the palate, the wine is clean, silky, and direct, with gentle honeyed spice that carries through to a lively, refreshing finish.
