Their 300-hectare Ygay estate, surrounding the winery in the southern point of Rioja Alta, is one of the most important single estates in Spain, producing wines of remarkable concentration, elegance and longevity. The Gran Reserva is their benchmark expression, a wine that has been made in the same uncompromising style for generations and continues to set the standard for what Rioja can achieve. Vineyard & Production Sourced from the Ygay estate in Rioja Alta, with vineyards ranging from 320 to 485 metres altitude. The 2016 vintage was a warmer year that particularly benefited the higher altitude parcels, producing wines of concentration and richness with a fine line of acidity. Grapes are de-stemmed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 9 days with constant skin contact, with regular pumping over and punching down for gentle colour and aroma extraction. The wine is then aged for 27 months in 225-litre American oak barrels before bottling.
