A true icon amongst the great wines of Alsace, the Riesling Clos Sainte Hune has, for over a century, embodied the finest expression of the Trimbach family's expertise. Its name pays homage to Sainte Hune, a legendary figure from Hunawihr, whose story is intimately linked to this exceptional vineyard. Produced in very limited quantities, this cuvée has become a global benchmark for connoisseurs of fine, age-worthy Rieslings. The Clos Sainte Hune comes from a single 1.67-hectare plot, nestled at the heart of the Rosacker terroir in Hunawihr. This vineyard, owned by the Trimbach family for over two centuries, benefits from a particularly favourable environment: a south to south-east aspect, a cool, dry microclimate sheltered by the Vosges mountains, and a marl-limestone subsoil rich in shell limestone (Muschelkalk). The old vines, some of which are over 80 years old, draw deeply on the mineral elements that give the wine its tension, precision and exceptional ageing potential. Founded in 1626, Domaine Trimbach has upheld a unique style across thirteen generations. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand to ensure only perfectly ripe grapes are selected. The winemaking process prioritises the purity of the fruit and fidelity to the terroir: slow fermentation, ageing on fine lees and no oak ageing, in order to preserve all the aromatic finesse and the mineral character of the Riesling. Each bottle is then kept at the estate for several years before release, allowing the wine to develop harmony whilst retaining remarkable ageing potential. The 2020 vintage is characterised by favourable weather conditions that allowed the grapes to reach excellent ripeness whilst retaining a lovely natural freshness. Low yields and the impeccable health of the harvest have produced a wine of great concentration, underpinned by perfectly integrated acidity. This Clos Sainte Hune 2020 reveals a crystalline expression, combining energy, depth and a long, briny finish that is the hallma
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
