Meet the Producer

San Felice is an outstanding Tuscan winery that has pioneered key developments in the Chianti Classico region for the last 40 years. Based in Castelnuovo Berardenga, Siena, the estate is committed to sustainable viticulture and producing wines that authentically express the terroir of Tuscany.

Production

Since moving to Gran Selezione status with the 2011 vintage, this wine is now produced from 100% Sangiovese grapes cultivated in the single, 30-year-old Poggio Rosso vineyard. The 10-hectare vineyard is at 390m above sea level and faces south/south-east. The soil is rich in limestone and loam. The vines are trained using the Guyot and Spurred cordon method. The grapes were fermented in contact with the skins for 20-25 days at 28-30°C, followed by malolactic fermentation and ageing in 500-litre French oak casks for 20 months. The wine was matured for a further 12 months in bottle before release.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
