Niepoort LBV 2020 is a rich and expressive Late Bottled Vintage Port from Portugal’s Douro Valley. Carefully aged in large wooden vats, this LBV combines the structure of a Vintage Port with the accessibility of an earlier-drinking style. Production

Grapes are hand-harvested and trodden in granite lagares before fermentation. The wine is aged in large oak barrels, or “pipas,” in Vila Nova de Gaia, allowing for gentle maturation that develops complexity while maintaining freshness. Bottling occurs after four to six years of barrel ageing, resulting in a balanced, approachable LBV.

Tasting Notes

The wine opens with a vibrant bouquet of fresh figs and subtle floral notes, complemented by red berries and a gentle spiciness. On the palate, ripe fruit gradually gives way to more dry, structured elements, supported by refreshing acidity. The finish is long, smooth, and layered, with integrated tannins that give elegance and balance.
